Introducing Cashless Pioneers

Jennifer Stalzer | December 15, 2011

You swipe, dip or tap your card, it works.  Pretty simple right?  Well there’s 45 plus years of expertise and technology that has enabled that safe, simple and smart payment experience you have when you shop, travel and run a business.

Many people do not sit back and contemplate the value of electronic commerce, but there are many great stories to tell that you may not immediately think of…like how electronic payments can save a government millions of dollars; enable financial inclusion for those who do not have access to a bank account; quicken the lines at fast-food restaurants and in a transit environment where speed does matter; alleviate the burdens of cash with regard to health, safety and costs to handle; and help consumers keep up with the latest tech-savvy ways to pay and shop online.

These are all great stories that we want to share with our community, but we don’t enable this all on our own.  We have many partners and advocates who support electronic commerce, and we want you to hear the stories directly from them too.  Plus it would be a bit boring if we did all the talking!

So good news – today we are launching a new content series on the Cashless Conversations blog, called Cashless Pioneers. Be sure to check back often – we’ll be highlighting great stories from around the world, such as Commerce in NYC, and allowing the Cashless Pioneers to speak about the value of innovation in payment technology and the benefits that electronic payments bring to them, but more importantly, to everyday people and consumers.

We hope you enjoy the series.  And if you know of any Cashless Pioneers we should reach out to – we would love to hear from you!

I am Banker by daytime, and Blogger by night. I believe in the power of Safe ePayments.
This new online tool by Mastercard, should attract consumers to shift to an ePayments/eReceipts mode, rather than cash or cheques.

I will come back for regular updates. Best of luck

    Hello :

I like the idea of alternate means of payment by Bitcoin to pay for items and services online where even though I would rather pay i n CASH. Bitcoin transactions are totallaly anonymous and secure . I as a consumer andcustomer wouldn’t have to pay transaction fees on every purchase when I use a Mastercard debit card , not to mention getting stung yet again by Mastercard with unfavorable currency exchange rates . Then there is the matter of customer privacy that Mastercard and the big banking interests have absolutely have no interest in preserving . I hope Bitcoin thrives and becomes the predominent means of payment online .
