Priceless NY Experience Extends to The Children’s Village

Jeremy Kohomban | February 1, 2012

Have you seen the MasterCard commercial where the kid zooms around FAO Schwarz in a hot yellow Camaro convertible? Well, that hot car and its twin are now sitting in The Children’s Village warehouse thanks to a donation from MasterCard.

We plan to feature one car in the silent auction at our Circle of Friends Annual Dinner on May 10 and the other one at our Masquerade Gala in October. Feel free to check our website in April if you want to bid online.

As a fundraiser, I am always looking for fun items for our auctions. There are a lot of boring items out there—signed jerseys (okay, I’m not a sports fan), tickets to a show you’ve never heard of, two nights at a resort with no airfare, etc. We are really excited to have something different to showcase. Kudos to MasterCard for finding a creative way to help kids!

There are organizations out there that are willing to write a check — maybe not as many as we’d like — but what we really need are partners. That’s what MasterCard is. They do write those all important checks, but in addition, employees pack food baskets for families at Thanksgiving and get involved with our kids. Perhaps most importantly, MasterCard joins us with one of their senior leaders on our Board and a young leader on our Leadership Council.  It is great to know MasterCard has made a commitment to work with us side by side to help the kids at the Children’s Village.

So do you want to bring that yellow Camaro home and help a great cause at the same time?  Check out our website and don’t forget to place your bid in April!
