Last night marked our 14th year of partnership with The BRIT Awards and what a great night it was! It’s our second year at the iconic O2 Arena and it remains a great backdrop for celebrating our sponsorship.
Every year, we give something back to the fans for their ongoing support of British music. This year, our Priceless Duets competition gave fans the opportunity to perform a duet with some of the biggest names in British music: Emeli Sandé, JLS, Labrinth and Jessie J.
Our first set of winners were with us last night and got to see their performances screened as part of the MasterCard adverts that were shown on ITV1 during the show. These can also be viewed here if you fancy a look and we’d love to know which music idol you’d choose for a Priceless Duet!
The show, as ever, was spectacular, with stand out performances from , Blur and my personal favourite Rihanna. The ‘’ was the most hotly anticipated award of the night, with music legend George Michael surprising and delighting the audience by coming on to present it. A charged silence fell on the arena as he wrestled with the envelope and then everyone burst into rapturous applause when he announced Adele had won the biggest accolade of the night.
I was also thrilled with how our brand really couldn’t be missed. From the large posters leading up to the venue as we arrived from Greenwich station, to the branded screens on the concourse, to the contactless PayPass wristbands enabling our VIP guests and prize winners to access the after-show parties and buy drinks – it was fantastic! We even had a roving reporter on hand to give all of our Facebook and Twitter followers updates throughout the night, so they too could enjoy exclusive access to some of the night’s most Priceless moments.
The whole night was Priceless from start to finish and I’m already looking forward to how we make it bigger and better next year!
