Holiday Shoppers in Japan Go ‘Cashless at Christmas’ to Make a Difference in the Lives of Children in Need

This holiday season, MasterCard and Roppongi Hills are teaming up once again to support children in need through the Purchase with Purpose™ program at the Roppongi Hills Christmas Market 2012. For every transaction made on a MasterCard card at the Christmas Market, Roppongi Hills and MasterCard will make a donation to support children who were orphaned by the Great East Japan Earthquake in March 2011.

And this year, for the very first time, MasterCard’s contactless payment service, MasterCard® PayPass™, will be available at 12 stalls in the Christmas Market, making it simpler and even more convenient for PayPass cardholders to give back by simply waving over a PayPass reader when they make a purchase.

We spoke to Takeshi Doi from Mori Building Co. Ltd., the complex operator, as well as some shoppers and a merchant about the importance of this collaboration (please view the video below).
