Changzhou, April 16, 2013 – MasterCard, the Bright China Foundation and the Education Bureau of Changzhou City today announced the launch of the “MasterCard – Bright China Entrepreneurship Education Program”.
The “MasterCard – Bright China Entrepreneurship Education Program,” was created through a partnership between MasterCard, Bright China Foundation and the Education Bureau of Changzhou City. Through this comprehensive non-profit education platform, the program will support students who are passionate about their future. This program will sponsor more than 1,600 vocational school students to take entrepreneurship courses, to explore their potential, to build self-confidence and to enable them to develop their careers to the fullest.
This program aims to help students who have the creative ability and the desire to perform and offers students practical work experience before entering the workforce. The principal content of the program includes entrepreneurship courses, a business plan competition and other engaging activities. MasterCard will share its deep global experience in helping young entrepreneurs in other countries, provide advice, insight and will invite speakers from a variety of businesses to present.
“With China’s economic environment, medium-sized and small enterprises have become a very important engine driving the development of the Chinese economy. Entrepreneurship training and the spirit of entrepreneurship are crucial foundations for building businesses. We are very proud to work with the Education Bureau of Changzhou City – a leading educational system in China. Furthermore, we believe the MasterCard – Bright China Entrepreneurship Education Program will provide a bridge to Chinese students and will help them to achieve their own Chinese dream,” said Dennis Chang, head of China, MasterCard.
Inspired by the Chinese proverb “teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime”, the Bright China Foundation focuses on vocational education and enhancing the entrepreneurial skills of vocational students. The foundation has already provided entrepreneurship education courses to more than 120,000 students throughout China. Since its cooperation with Education Bureau of Changzhou City and vocational education institutions began in 2009, the Bright China Foundation has trained 110 certified entrepreneurship teachers and has taught the Bright China Entrepreneurship Education Program to nearly 6,000 students. By leveraging this platform, two schools in Changzhou have established Bright China Entrepreneurship Communities giving students the chance to get involved.
Beth Yu, General Secretary of Bright China Foundation said, “The Bright China Foundation aims to establish the most influential and effective entrepreneurship education system in China. Through a professional, effective and comprehensive education platform, we strongly encourage and educate youth to face the challenges in their spirits of entrepreneurship.”
