Group Executive, Infrastructure and Operations Services
Edgar Aguilar is the group executive of Infrastructure and Operations Services for MasterCard Worldwide. His organization is responsible for all aspects of Infrastructure and Operational support for MasterCard globally. Areas of responsibility include technology planning, system design, acquisition service implementation, 24/7 operations, ITIL processes, performance analysis and IT lifecycle management. The system and network that Mr. Aguilar and his staff support includes multi-data centers and corporate services that span more than 210 countries and territories, providing mission-critical services for all principal customers and employees. Prior to joining MasterCard, Mr. Aguilar built a successful career through a variety of assignments at Alestra (Mexico), AT&T – Data Communications Services, and Bell Laboratories.
Mr. Aguilar has received numerous awards and honors for outstanding performance, including Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff (1993 - Bell Laboratories) and Project Management Professional certification (1998 - Project Management Institute). In 2007, he was named one of the “Most Important Hispanics in Technology” by Hispanic Engineering and Information Technology Magazine. In 2010, the Hispanic IT Executive Council named him to the “HITEC 100” list of most influential IT executives.
In addition to his extensive background in telecommunication, Mr. Aguilar has a Master’s in Engineering (Cornell University) and Master’s Certificate in Project Management (George Washington University). He is also actively involved with the IEEE, Project Management Institute and various international IT/Telecom forums.
