Sami Lahoud is Vice President, Global Thought Leadership for MasterCard. Based in the company’s headquarters in Purchase, New York, Sami is responsible for optimizing the CEO Communications and helping senior executives succeed with internal and external communications that position them as thought-leaders on key topics such as Financial Inclusion, Innovation and Safety & Security.

Prior to taking on this role in March 2015, Sami established and led the Communications function for MasterCard in the Middle East and Africa, out of the regional office in Dubai. He was responsible for driving the corporate communications function for the company across this fast growing region, covering external and internal communications, social channels, philanthropy and citizenship, public affairs, and corporate events.

Sami joined MasterCard in 2012 from Barclays where he established the Corporate Affairs function for the Emerging Markets business set up to spearhead the growth of Barclays in the Middle East, Africa, Asia and East Europe. Prior to Barclays, Sami held several senior level positions within leading organizations such as Boeing, where his work involved enhancing the brand and reputation in the Middle East, Africa and Turkey, building competitive advantage and actively supporting major customer campaigns across civil and defense aerospace products.

Sami has lived in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Lebanon, working for leading communications consultancies such as Weber Shandwick and Hill & Knowlton. Prior to that, he worked as a Business Editor for Al Iktissad Wal Aamal, the leading Arabic pan Arab business publication.
Sami’s communications experience includes corporate branding & identity, brand & reputation management, public policy, public and media relations, events management, citizenship and sustainability, internal communications and crisis management.

Sami holds a Masters Degree in Money and Banking from the American University of Beirut.
