Sao Paulo, Brazil and Miami, FL – August 21, 2012 — MasterCard announced today it has become the official sponsor of one of the world’s most beloved national football teams, the Brazilian National Football team (the famous “Seleção”). The global sponsorship agreement will provide the global payments brand the opportunity to develop promotional and experiential programs for cardholders, customers, merchants, and partners during some of the world’s most important football matches where the National Team competes.
The sponsorship agreement between MasterCard and the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) includes the sponsorship of all CBF managed teams: Men’s National Team, Women’s National Team and all youth squads (under-20 and under-17).

Through January 2020, MasterCard will be the exclusive brand in the category of Payment Services and have access to branding rights, the Team, matches, ticket pre-sales, among other benefits, to develop exclusive priceless experiences and offers for its cardholders, customers, merchants, and partners.
Sponsorships, and particularly football, are an important component of MasterCard’s integrated marketing mix. For over 20 years MasterCard has supported the international sport, sponsoring some of the world’s most renowned football events. “MasterCard has had a long history with football.
