For the third year in a row, we are pleased to share that MasterCard has been recognized, along with its partners, for a GSMA award. This year, with Oberthur Technologies and telecom provider Etisalat, we have won the GSMA Award in the Best NFC/Mobile Money category.
Etisalat’s flous, which means money in Arabic, was the winning entry. The Mobile Commerce service is a digital wallet available in the UAE that let’s you tag your NFC equipped phone or take a picture scanning a barcode to conduct a transaction.
Here’s what the judges had to say:
“A stand-out entry in terms of the scale of deployment and comprehensive suite of m-commerce offerings across so many countries and different verticals… An excellent mobile money product which has been very well tailored to serve local users.”
Having been recognized for three years in a row along with other leading companies is a testament to our partnership approach in bringing top innovations to market that provide the benefits of mobile and electronic payments to consumers, merchants and governments around the world.
This award is just another shining moment of our experience at the GSMA Mobile World Congress. Our work with partners has been on display all week – from our announcements withVerifone, Vimpelcom and Orange to our Global Mobile Payments Symposium featuring Rogers Communications, Mahindra Comviva and Boots UK these relationships are at the core of our business.
So let’s all take part in celebrating this “threepeat”!
