Pune, 1 September, 2015As part of a worldwide rollout, the MasterCard Girls4Tech™ program will return to India the week of 31 August, bringing the program to Pune in the State of Maharashtra. The hands-on, inquiry-based program connects the foundations of the MasterCard business to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) principles and shows students that it takes all kinds of interests and skills to pursue a STEM career. On 1 September, MasterCard will host 25 girls from the Army Public School and 25 girls from the Sardar Dastur Nosherwar Girls High School in their Pune office.

India is fast becoming a global hub of technology and innovation and offers an exciting range of career opportunities related to STEM fields. Our aim is to inspire young girls to build their STEM skills and help them become the problem solvers of tomorrow.”

Launched in April 2014, more than 1,500 girls and 500 MasterCard employee mentors have participated in the Girls4Tech program in the US, Germany, U.A.E. and earlier this year, 30 girls participated from the Air Force School in Gurgaon. With six stations that showcase algorithms, digital convergence, fraud detection, local network intelligence, cryptology and big data, Girls4Tech is based on global science and math standards and was created in conjunction with curriculum experts and top engineers from MasterCard.

MasterCard will also take the program to Sydney on 9 September, London on 6 October and Rome on 9 October with more markets to follow, including expanding coverage across India.
