MOSCOW – August 11, 2014 – MasterCard reveals the results of Doing Good in One Touch Is Priceless campaign in support of Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C) in Russia. 30 million rubles will be donated to the Stand Up to Cancerinitiative. The funds will support oncological research aimed at developing new methods of cancer treatment. MasterCard is very grateful to everyone, who contributed to the campaign simply by making everyday purchases in one touch with MasterCard PayPass® technology.
MasterCard donated 1 ruble for every payment made in any amount from April 1st until June 30th with the innovative contactless MasterCard PayPass technology. All holders of cards and other devices (watches, stickers, smartphones etc.) with MasterCard PayPass technology were able to contribute to the campaign simply by making everyday purchases. As a result, MasterCard will donate 30 million rubles to the Stand Up To Cancer initiative.
The Doing Good in One Touch Is Priceless campaign was supported by various MasterCard partners which included Russian and international banks, supermarkets, telecom operators, coffee houses, fast-food restaurants, gas stations, health clinics, transportation operators, and others/.
Famous Russian actors, musicians and journalists supported the charity campaign of MasterCard and the Stand Up to Cancer initiative. This year’s ambassadors included actresses Marina Aleksandrova and Daria Moroz and recording artist Emin.
“This is the second consecutive year that MasterCard runs the campaigns in support of Stand Up To Cancer in Russia, as well. We believe that investment in the research on this serious disease helps to accelerate the development of innovative methods of cancer treatment. The funds donated in 2013 by MasterCard to Stand Up To Cancer were granted to Translational Research in Oncology [TRIO] for oncological research development. That same year the first study supported by Stand Up To Cancer and MasterCard began. It involves the assessment of a new method of curing frequent breast cancer subtype. Russian investigators recently started screening, enrolling and working with the study patients. In addition, an epidemiologic study collecting data on the current real life treatment practices for breast cancer began. Over the next year, data from many Russian regions will be collected and analyzed. It will help to determine cancer treatment approaches in different regions of the country.
