Sao Paulo, July 14th, 2015 – MasterPass™ is officially launched in the Brazilian market on July 13th, 2015, this country becomes the first Latin American market to implement this innovative payment technology. MasterPass™ by MasterCard is a digital service that allows consumers to use any credit, debit or prepaid card of the main brands to checkout on line, with just a click in a safe and convenient place. MasterPass’ checkout button eliminates the need to type your payment and shipping details for online shopping in associated merchants.
Online shopping in Brazil is soaring. According to E-bit Consultancy, e-commerce sales in Brazil are expected to increase 20% by the end of 2014.
“Increasingly, consumers are adopting faster and more convenient platforms to do their shopping. To cover the demand, we must offer the best shopping experience when clients visit both the physical and the online store. Using MasterPass, each device may become a quick and safe shopping device”, said Marcelo Tangioni, vice president of Products at MasterCard Brazil and South LAC.
MasterPass safely stores your personal details, shipping address and favorite cards. It simplifies payments from any device, including smartphones and tablets; when you are ready to checkout, just log in and let MasterPass do the rest.
Banks such as Caixa Econômica Federal and Banrisul, insurance company Porto Seguro and retailer chain Renner are already offering the digital wallet service integrated to MasterPass. In terms of acceptance, operations in large Brazilian e-commerce companies such as CNova Group (CasasBahia.com.br, Extra.com.br, Pontofrio.com and Barateiro.com), Maquina de Vendas, The Beauty Box and Tray Shopping allow clients to checkout in just a few clicks.
“MasterPass is present in a significant number of online stores in Brazil. Moreover, MasterCard’s market share is of over 30% in the Brazilian e-commerce segment”, adds Tangioni.
