Banque Commerciale Du Congo in the DRC signs issuance agreement with MasterCard
Banque Commerciale Du Congo (BCDC) customers in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) can now access the millions of merchants and ATMs accepting MasterCard payment cards around the world, thanks to an issuance agreement with MasterCard to roll out thousands of Debit cards.
BCDC’s private banking clients and expatriates living and working in the DRC will now enjoy a safe, cost-effective means of transacting, both at home and abroad.
“Encouraging economic development growth in the DRC, which has been isolated from the global economy, means there is an increasing need for electronic payment solutions that align with international standards,” says Charlton Goredema, Vice President and Area Business Head, Southern Africa and Indian Ocean Islands, MasterCard.
“Our agreement with BCDC comes at a time when MasterCard is working closely with governments and financial institutions across Africa to increase use of electronic payments, while reducing reliance on cash,’’ says Goredema.
