Today, Ajay Banga will participate in the U.S.-Africa Business Forum as part of a larger U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit convened by the White House. The U.S. capital is shining a spotlight on Africa at a time when, according to a just-published McKinsey report, more than half of the world’s fastest-growing economies reside on the continent.
He will join more than 200 U.S. and African business leaders, more than 40 African heads of state, and U.S. Cabinet secretaries, in a day-long forum designed to promote trade, accelerate job growth and encourage investment.
At 10:20 a.m., Banga will participate in a discussion on “Open Markets: Financing the Africa of Tomorrow.” Treasury Secretary Lew will welcome the panel. Dr. Donald Kaberuka, President, African Development Bank, will moderate. Among the panelists are two MasterCard partners: Dr. James Mwangi, CBS, CEO & Managing Director, Equity Bank Group, and Sim Tshabalala, Joint Chief Executive, Standard Bank Group.
