Today is an exciting day for payments. Microsoft just announced the Microsoft Wallet, which will enable MasterCard cardholders to use their Windows 10 Mobile devices for everyday purchases starting in the U.S. with the Lumia 950, 950 XL and 650.
In partnership with MasterCard, Microsoft is launching Microsoft Wallet today to Windows Insiders with general availability coming later this summer. Microsoft Wallet is a cloud-based payment technology to make payments simple and more secure for Windows 10 Mobile devices. Microsoft Wallet leverages MDES (MasterCard Digital Enablement Service), which uses the most advanced payment technologies –EMV, tokenization and cryptography – to ensure the integrity of cardholder information.
MasterCard has built the foundation to enable these transactions, working to ensure consumers can use their cards when, where and how they want. Microsoft Wallet can be used at over a million retail locations in the U.S.; anywhere contactless payments are accepted. You can download the MasterCard Nearby app to find contactless enabled merchants near you.
“We’re thrilled that MasterCard cardholders can now make payments from their Windows 10 Mobile devices knowing that every purchase is more secure and offers all the same guarantees and benefits they’ve come to expect from using their MasterCard,” said Jorn Lambert, Digital Payments & Labs, MasterCard. “We are pleased to have partnered with Microsoft to deliver yet another seamless and secure mobile payments experience through our MDES platform.”
To enhance the shopping experience, Microsoft Wallet also provides a one-stop shop to store reward and membership cards, eliminating the need to fumble through your wallet or various apps to retrieve them. As long as it has a bar code, it can be scanned directly from the Microsoft Wallet. Visit this link for further details.
