Garmin Pay is now live with several banks and credit unions around the world
Mastercard cardholders will be the first to be able to make contactless payments using their Garmin® vívoactive® 3 smartwatches in Australia, Russia, Switzerland and the United States now that Garmin Pay™ is live with leading issuers and credit unions across the globe.
Garmin Pay™ went live for Mastercard cardholders at banks such as Capital One, Commonwealth Bank of Australia and Sberbank of Russia. For a complete list of banks that are live, please visit here.
Powering the simplicity and security of Garmin Pay™ is the Mastercard industry-leading token service that will replace the 16-digit card number found on the front or back of a payment card with a unique alternate number. The consumer’s credentials are kept more secure since the physical card is not used in the transaction.
“Mastercard is focused on delivering the technology that will help consumers live the increasingly digital lifestyle they desire,” said Kiki Del Valle, senior vice president, Commerce for Every Device. “Now, Mastercard cardholders can be the first to pay by simply holding their smartwatch near a contactless terminal.”
How to get started
- Garmin users will enter payment information in the Garmin Connect™ Mobile app (available in Apple App Store and Google Play) by scanning a card or manually entering their information. Once the app has synced with the smartwatch, the account is linked and the wearer can tap and pay at contactless terminals around the globe.
