The South Africa Social Security Agency (SASSA) has hit a major milestone for financial inclusion, with 10 million active MasterCard cards with biometric functionality in South Africa. The cards, issued by Grindrod Bank in association with SASSA and Net1 UEPS Technologies (Net1), can be used anywhere MasterCard cards are accepted and positively identify social grant recipients using unique identifiers such as fingerprints, voice and other personal information.
