At this year’s Mobile World Congress ( #MWC14 ), MasterCard wants you to leverage the power of your mobile phone to do good for the United Nations World Food Programme(WFP). Every time an attendee stops by the MasterCard booth and takes a “selfless selfie” and tweets about it, MasterCard will donate a month of school meals for a hungry child on their behalf through the World Food Programme.
“I remember when all you could do with your mobile phone was to actually make a phone call. Innovation has certainly changed all that,” said Ann Cairns, MasterCard President International Markets. “Leveraging technology to do good is important to us at MasterCard. What better way to have a little fun at Mobile World Congress and do good at the same time.”

WFP and MasterCard believe technology has the power to unlock innovation in food assistance, helping achieve the vision that a world beyond cash builds a world beyond hunger.
