An important component of MasterCard’s 10-week summer intern program involves giving back to our community. That is why MasterCard interns in the Purchase headquarters recently volunteered
at Teatown Lake Reservation in Ossining, NY. Interns worked on multiple projects where
they were able to add on to their priceless summer experience.
“This type of volunteering not only provides an outlet to ‘give back’ but also fosters collaboration and bonding across departments” said Sarah Bendix, MasterCard Program Manager, Global Talent Acquisition.
The day was filled with team building projects such as replacing a bridge along the trail, building picnic tables, removing invasive plants, and disassembling of an outdoor stairway. All of which, brought everyone together, whether undergraduate or MBA, for a day of collaboration and bonding.
As a nature preserve and education center, Teatown Lake Reservation works to maintain its 15 miles of hiking trails throughout its 1,000 acres of lakes, streams, waterfalls, forests and meadows while providing educational environmental health programs through teamwork and partnership. Overall, the volunteer work at Teatown provided the interns a better understanding of MasterCard’s passion for philanthropy and the importance of giving back to the community.
