As part of its ongoing commitment to empowering girls and women around the world, Mastercard has pledged to equip 2020 girls in Dubai with the skills needed in STEM-based careers through the award-winning Girls4Tech™ program . Announcing its new commitment at a special event hosted by Formark School in Dubai, Mastercard revealed that it will run a dedicated local program to support this initiative, which will run from January 2020 until the end of Expo 2020 Dubai.

Mastercard launched its Girls4Tech program in the UAE for the first time in 2015, with the aim of inspiring young girls to pursue careers in science and technology. Indeed, thousands of girls across the Middle East and Africa have benefited from the program since its launch until now.

Commenting on the programme, Beatrice Cornacchia, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communications, Middle East and Africa, Mastercard, said: “Promoting inclusion, equal opportunity and empowering girls are key global priorities for us at Mastercard. As the Official Payment Technology Partner of Expo 2020, and a committed partner to the UAE, Mastercard also announced the launch of the Arabic version of this award-winning program, which is now available in 12 languages ​​around the world. The announcement follows Mastercard's ongoing collaboration with Expo 2020 to expand the Girls4Tech program across the Expo Schools Programme.

This hands-on STEM education program has reached more than 500,000 girls in 27 countries to date, with Mastercard committed to reaching 1 million girls by 2025. The Girls4Tech program builds on Mastercard's deep expertise in innovation and payments technology, and includes Topics such as encryption, fraud detection, data analytics, digital convergence, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. The program also emphasizes the importance of mastering useful skills such as collaboration, creativity and communication to enable girls to apply their technical knowledge and find solutions to real-world problems.
