MasterCard Wins Global Brand of the Year MasterCard has won numerous awards at the New York Festival of Advertising Awards , including Best Global Brand of the Year 2020 for its unwavering commitment to creativity and innovation.

The "Astronomical Shows" campaign launched by the company in the UAE won three gold, one silver and one bronze medals, making it the most award-winning campaign from the region. The Astronomical Shows campaign was held in association with Noon, and was designed and implemented by advertising agency FP7 McCann, one of the largest creative agencies in the region and a long-time partner of Mastercard.

Commenting on the win, Beatrice Cornacchia, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communications, Middle East and Africa at Mastercard, said: “We are delighted to have been named Global Brand of the Year 2020 in addition to the many other accolades that have been won by this campaign, which represents our ongoing efforts to deliver invaluable experiences. In all, MasterCard won six Gold Awards, six Silver Awards, 14 Bronze Awards, and 117 Finalist Awards.

 

Astrological shows in every sense of the word

The day after we celebrated Christmas, at 6:30 am, MasterCard took advantage of the unique phenomenon of the eclipse, and gained the attention of shoppers in the Middle East, with a promotion that touches the limits of the sky.

During this rare eclipse, the moon covered 97% of the sun's disk, so Mastercard teamed up with Noon, one of the largest online shopping sites in the region to give cardholders discounts of up to 97% on a wide range of products in an amazing promotion titled " astronomical performances.

And the promotion began to coincide with the start of the eclipse. With the disappearance of the sun disk, prices have decreased to reach discounts of 79%, and gradually return to the normal price with the return of the sun.

Also, consumers who shopped at the same moment when the sun disk and the moon crossed, drawing the Mastercard logo in the sky, were also awarded with invaluable prizes.

 

Invaluable results

The results were exceptional in the region, during the two-hour promotion period, products sold out within a few minutes, and the region recorded changes in cash-on-delivery behaviour.
