Inside the Circles: Bringing in (and keeping) women in tech

September 29, 2021 | By Anthony Venutolo

"Girls4Tech is the gift that keeps on giving," says Eva Mudgal, an alum of Mastercard's global STEM program for girls that teaches these programmers of tomorrow about algorithms, encryption, fraud detection, data analysis, digital convergence and more.

When G4T, which launched in the U.S. in 2014, expanded to India the following year, Mudgal was part of the inaugural class. Six years later, she is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in computer science at the University of Windsor in Canada, crediting the program for sparking her interest in artificial intelligence, networks and security – and for landing her a dream internship with Ethoca, a Mastercard company, this past summer.

"They taught us everything in such a simple way," she says. "That experience of exploring and experiencing firsthand the operations that go on at Mastercard was really instrumental for the ever-growing curiosity that I have today."

On the latest episode of "Inside the Circles,” Mastercard’s podcast about the future of work and the topics of now, host Latoya Bennett-Johnson chats with Mudgal and Monica Agarwala, a director in product marketing for the company’s Cyber & Intelligence business, about the company’s pathways to bring and keep more women in technology and innovation.

"The best jobs are the ones where you can learn a lot and bring a piece of yourself into the role," says Monica Agarwala, who joined Mastercard in 2018 as part of Relaunch Your Career, the company's program designed specifically for professionals who want to rejoin the workforce after a career break.
