President, Enterprise Growth & Partnerships, MasterCard
Carlos Menendez is president, Enterprise Growth & Partnerships, for MasterCard. In this role, Mr. Menendez is responsible for expanding and developing the company’s operations in over 210 countries and territories around the world. He also has responsibility for driving enterprise-wide partnership strategy and innovation, helping MasterCard to use its technology in new ways for a host of diverse merchant, business and government partners.
Mr. Menendez joined MasterCard in 2010 and was, most recently, group executive, Global Credit and Debit. In this role, Mr. Menendez was responsible for managing the company’s consumer and network products, with a focus on developing competitive differentiation globally while deploying solutions at the local market level. Prior to joining MasterCard, Mr. Menendez held a number of positions at Citigroup, where he worked for more than 14 years. Most recently, he was chief operating officer for Western Europe, responsible for a full range of consumer banking products. Before this, he was the EMEA regional cards director and divisional consumer head for the Nordics. As the regional cards director, he was responsible for the cards business strategy and execution for more than 18 countries across Europe, Middle East and Africa. Prior to Citigroup, Mr. Menendez worked in Brand Management with Procter & Gamble and with a law office in Washington D.C.
Mr. Menendez holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Harvard University, a Master of Arts in International Studies from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Master of Business Administration from The Wharton School.
