President, Loyalty Solutions and Managed Services
Francis A. Hondal has over 25 years of experience in consumer marketing, finance and general management within the payments and financial services industries. As President of Loyalty Solutions and Managed Services, Ms. Hondal is responsible for creating and managing solutions that deliver powerful, rewarding experiences for Mastercard cardholders every time they swipe, dip or tap – anywhere in the world. Mastercard today has over 2 billion credit and debit cards around the globe and delivers Loyalty Solutions as well as co-branded cards in more than 100 countries. Managed Services offers marketing services across multiple channels to financial institutions, merchants across industries and governments. Combined these services deliver over $1B of revenue to Mastercard.
Previously, Ms. Hondal served as EVP of Credit products globally leading the development of the strategy and global deployment of differentiated value propositions to serve consumers across all segments; in particular the affluent and mass affluent. She also led the Latin American and Caribbean Products and Solutions team, where she was responsible for the development, management and marketing of all products and solutions across the region, including Mastercard Advisors consulting services.
Before joining Mastercard in 2011, she launched a business development and marketing service firm after an 18-year career at American Express, where her last position was Regional Vice President and General Manager for the International Consumer Card Services Division in Latin America and Canada. Prior to joining American Express, Mrs. Hondal spent four years in retail banking in South Florida.
Ms. Hondal is a first generation Cuban-American with a Bachelor Degree in Finance and International Business and an MBA from Florida International University (FIU). She is a Board Member for FIU’s Chapman School of Business and was inducted to the College of Business Administration Hall of Fame in 2015 and received the Global Leadership Award. In 2013, she received the International Business Woman of the Year Award by the Organization of Women in International Trade. Recently Ms. Hondal received the honor of ranking #15 on Fortune’s 50 Most Powerful Latinas of 2017. She lives in Miami, Florida with her husband, Eddie and their two sons, David and Daniel.
