EVP Global Acceptance and Solutions
James Hicks is executive vice president, Global Acceptance and Solutions for Mastercard. In this role, he is responsible for developing and driving the strategies, services and solutions that further the company’s role in the merchant and acceptance ecosystem worldwide.
Prior to joining Mastercard in 2016, James was Managing Director of Kegaska Group Limited, a Toronto-based company providing advisory services to international businesses seeking insights and support within the rapidly evolving payments and financial technology space.
Previously, James held a number of executive positions at Global Payments Inc., one of the world's largest payment processing providers. These included President, Global Solutions, where he was responsible for developing and managing international partnerships and overseeing the international acquiring e-Commerce business; President of Global Payments Asia Pacific; and, in parallel, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Asia-Pacific Global Payments / HSBC joint venture. Prior to his move to Asia, James was President and Executive Director of Global Payments Europe, providing financial institutions with a wide variety of payment services across card processing, management, e-Commerce and POS services.
James entered the payments industry in 1997, joining the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce as a National Account Business Development Manager in its Card Products Merchant Services unit. Subsequently, he headed the CIBC Merchant Card Services Marketing group, followed by holding responsibility for the Product and Marketing functions as Vice President and Senior Vice President within Global Payments Canada.
A graduate of Lakefield College School and the University of Western Ontario (Canada), James is based out of Mastercard global headquarters in Purchase, N.Y.
