Chief Product Officer
Michael Miebach is the chief product officer of Mastercard and a member of the company’s management committee.
Michael leads the Products and Innovation organization that encompasses consumer credit and debit, commercial, prepaid, acceptance, real-time payment, and processing solutions in both the digital and physical worlds, as well as Mastercard Labs and processing activities.
Michael is focused on developing and managing how the company delivers the best commerce experience, off and online – such as shopping, traveling, running a business and managing finances –while maintaining the highest levels of safety and security.
Bringing a wealth of insights and global experience from a career in payments and retail banking, Michael drives customer-focused innovation and delivers physical and digital solutions that provide more than just a transaction. He previously headed Mastercard operations across the Middle East and Africa, and held senior roles at both Barclays Bank and Citibank across Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
As a member of the board of directors for the nonprofit Accion, Michael has the opportunity to further pursue his passion of bringing more people greater opportunities in the formal economy. In 2017, he joined the advisory board of the Ronald McDonald House New York, a global charity that provides vital resources and compassionate care to children and their families being served by leading hospitals worldwide.
Michael holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Passau in Germany and lives in New York.
