President, U.S. Issuers


Raj Seshadri is president of U.S. Issuers, North America for Mastercard. In this role, she is responsible for managing and expanding our partnerships and business with banks and credit unions across the U.S. Raj is a member of the Mastercard Management Committee.

Raj joined Mastercard in April 2016. Prior to that, she was a managing director at Blackrock, as leader of the iShares U.S. retail ETF business and as the global chief marketing officer for iShares. Earlier in her career, Raj held roles at Citigroup in global strategy and small business banking; U.S. Trust in marketing, strategy and M&A; McKinsey & Company; and AT&T Bell Laboratories.

Raj serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Raymond James Financial Inc., the Management Board for the Stanford Graduate School of Business, the Board of Trustees of Mount Holyoke College and the Global Board of the American India Foundation. As an adjunct professor, she teaches at the Graduate School of Business at Columbia University.
Raj received a bachelor’s degree from Mount Holyoke College in physics and mathematics, a Masters of Business Administration from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in physics from Harvard University.
