Brazil – March 31, 2016  Renner, Brazil’s largest department store, launched its digital wallet in partnership with MasterCard, making the online payment experience easier and more convenient. Renner customers can now link credit and debit cards, loyalty programs and advance payment options through the wallet with one registration process only ensuring a simple checkout whenever they make purchases.

“The launch of this solution is perfectly aligned with Lojas Renner’s digital innovation philosophy, and our desire to provide added value to our customers. By integrating MasterCard’s MasterPass wallet into our e-commerce platforms, we offer the convenience of a simple and safe payment experience either through the MasterPass payment button on our site or through our digital wallet app,” stated Lojas Renner’s Financial Products Manager Fabiana Taccola.

Digital wallets represent a big innovation for retailers, and this initiative comes at a timely moment given Brazil’s growth in e-commerce. A recent study by E-Bit showed that in 2015 e-commerce sales stood at R$ 41.3 billion, with a 12% increase in the average sales ticket. Total sales through virtual stores in Brazil during 2015 increased 15.3% compared to 2014.

Through the creation of the Renner MasterPass wallet, Renner demonstrates how they are continually innovating in order to serve their customers, enhancing their brand experience and leveraging new tools in order to increase their customer loyalty. Eventually, the MasterPass digital wallet experience will be further enhanced through contactless transactions in physical retail stores”, stated Valerio Murta, MasterCard’s Products Vice-President for Latin America & Caribbean Southern Cone region.

During this first phase, Renner’s MasterPass Digital Wallet will only be available for a selected number of “Meu Cartão” clients, which is the company’s credit card, via a private e-email invite. This base will eventually be expanded to more customers. On top of the possibility to buy at the e-commerce with a single click, Meu Cartão clients will not have to pay additional fees to use the new service. Renner customers can now purchase at Renner’s e-commerce website as well as in cultural and electronic stores, among others.
