Consumers in Japan to benefit from a more seamless, speedy and secure online shopping checkout process
Tokyo, 5 March 2015: MasterCard and online payment solutions provider VeriTrans Inc., a subsidiary of econtext ASIA Limited that is expanding online payment services across Asia, announced today a partnership to expand merchant acceptance of MasterCard’s digital payment solution MasterPassTM in Japan.
The MasterPass online payment functionality will now be added to the VeriTrans3G service in Japan. VeriTrans provides e-commerce operators with a comprehensive platform for online payments, including via credit card, convenience stores and many other payments services. E-commerce businesses that use VeriTrans3G can adopt MasterPass without having to modify their systems significantly. As MasterPass merchants, they will be able to offer their customers a fast and seamless online checkout experience, thereby reducing cart abandonment.
MasterPass, which was launched in 2013, is now accepted at over 85,000 merchants sites in sixteen countries including China, Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Italy, New Zealand, Poland, Romania, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and the United States. The global availability of MasterPass will expand further in the coming future.
