Baiba Upmale
Senior Vice President, Communications,  Eastern Europe Middle East & Africa, Mastercard

Baiba Upmale is the Senior Vice President, Communications, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (EEMEA) for Mastercard. She leads and oversees the strategic execution of the company’s internal and external communications strategy.

Baiba brings extensive experience working with global and regional brands in the Middle East and Africa, Europe and South East Asia.  During her career, she has delivered a number of high profile and award-winning B2B and B2C campaigns, most recently establishing Mastercard as the most awarded brand for communications in the region.

Before joining Mastercard, her last role was at an international communications consultancy, where she was responsible for developing the group’s business across the region, managing its award-winning team and providing strategic counsel to international and regional clients. Prior to this, she held a number of leadership roles at agencies, and built a successful career as a journalist. 

Baiba has a Multimedia Journalism degree from Bournemouth University in the UK, and holds professional qualifications from a range of international bodies including the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) and the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM).
