Mastercard reinforces commitment to Egypt with new leadership appointment

Cairo, Egypt, 15th  March 2023 – Mastercard strengthens its leadership team in North Africa through the appointment of Inji Borai as Vice President and Country Manager for Egypt.

Egyptian born Inji has been growing through the Mastercard regional ranks over the past 3 years. In her new role, Inji will be responsible for leading Mastercard’s strategy and operations to drive value creation in Egypt’s payment ecosystem. Inji has more than 20 years of expertise in economics, management and policy consultation, having held several positions across several international, regional and local organizations.

Having joined Mastercard Egypt as a Senior Managing Consultant in 2020 Inji was instrumental to growing Mastercard’ strong consulting delivery hub in Egypt to become 60 man strong. She has also driven the advisor client services operations for Saudi, Bahrain and Levant, before taking on the role of Principal for Advisors Client Services across the Eastern Europe, Middle East & Africa (EEMEA) region. Both roles saw Inji lead the Cairo Advisors Hub across a range of projects that focused on driving financial inclusion, digital transformation and banking innovation. 

Prior to joining Mastercard, Inji has alternated between policy advisory, investment analysis and management consulting roles across Egypt and MENA working for the likes of Dun & Bradstreet, Logic Management Consulting and even co-founding her own boutique management consulting firm (Acumen Consulting). As an Egyptian government veteran, Inji has been actively involved in key national initiatives including the Egypt Vision 2030 Sustainable Development Strategy.

Inji currently serves as an advisory board member for several local and regional start-ups as well as the National Employment Pact founded by GIZ Egypt. She also served as the Lean Start-up Co. Ambassador to Egypt.

Inji holds an MBA in finance and a graduate business degree in corporate innovation from the prestigious Stanford Graduate School of Business.
