Bucharest, February 8, 2022, Up Romania, a company that provides modern payment solutions in the form of vouchers and extra-salary benefits in Romania, is the first issuer in the electronic voucher industry to display enhanced purchase information in digital bank channels after partnering with Mastercard’s Ethoca. Ethoca Consumer ClarityTM improves the consumer experience and helps prevent friendly fraud, where purchases are claimed as fraud simply because the customer fails to recognize them due to a lack of descriptive information.

Cardholders will be able to use the Up Mobil app to view additional information about their transactions and details for merchants they made purchases with. This includes the merchant’s business name, its logo (where permissioned) and location details for where the transaction was made.

Digitizing and improving the cardholder experience is one of the main directions of development for Up Romania. Following the launch of our AI-powered virtual assistant "Victor" last month, we continue to improve the Up Mobil app, now including enhanced purchase details on transactions made using the Up Breakfast, Up Gift, Up Holiday and Up Culture cards in the app. We are pleased to be the first issuer of vouchers in Romania to implement this solution and contribute to the reduction of friendly fraud whilst improving the digital experience for Up Romania cardholders,” said Elena Pap, Regional Director Up Group.

The solution developed by Mastercard and Ethoca helps improve customer engagement in the issuer’s digital channels by enabling cardholders to view more in-depth details about their purchases in one location. With additional information about each transaction at hand, Consumer Clarity reduces consumer confusion with unidentified payments and increases the visibility of merchants, whose logos are displayed in the transaction history. We are pleased to partner with Up Romania so that their cardholders benefit from an improved digital experience and can identify purchases more easily in the mobile app,” said Cosmin Vladimirescu, Country Manager Romania & Croatia, Mastercard.
