Mastercard appoints Dr Peter Robejsek as Country Manager of Mastercard Germany

Former Division President for Germany and Switzerland Peter Bakenecker named President, Central Europe

Frankfurt, Germany, 13 January 2022 – Dr Peter Robejsek has been named as the new Country Manager for Mastercard Germany. He replaces Peter Bakenecker, who has become the new President for Mastercard in Central Europe. Both changes came into effect on 1^st January 2022.  

Dr Robejsek assumes his new role after spending more than four years with Mastercard, having joined the company in 2017. In recent years – during his time as Vice President – he has been responsible for product management in Germany and Switzerland. This remit has included traditional Mastercard payment solutions, as well as innovative products related to instant payments and open banking. 

Dr Robejsek has extensive experience in the financial services sector, with particular expertise in wealth management and strategic consulting. He completed his postgraduate studies at Durham University in the UK, where his thesis focused on machine learning techniques for assessing economic relationships.

The turn of the year also saw former Division President for Germany and Switzerland Peter Bakenecker assume responsibility for Mastercard’s Austrian, Czech, Cypriot, Greek, Hungarian, Maltese, Polish, Slovakian, and Slovenian markets, in addition to Germany and Switzerland, in his new role as President, Central Europe.
